LONDON: British plastic surgeon Dr. Victoria Rose has shared harrowing accounts of her recent medical mission to southern Gaza, highlighting the devastating impact of the ongoing conflict on children. Speaking to a foreign news agency, Dr. Rose recounted her time at Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis during May and June, calling the experience “relentless.”
For 24 consecutive days, she and her team performed nonstop surgeries. "I was operating on about 12 patients daily, with my colleagues managing their own full lists," she explained. Initially, most cases involved injuries from bomb blasts. Later, the team began treating an increasing number of gunshot wounds, particularly from GHF shootings.
Dr. Rose described the worsening humanitarian situation as families, now displaced, are forced to live in tents—locations that are increasingly becoming targets. "There’s no protection at all. The severity of injuries we’re seeing now is far worse," she said.
She revealed that many of the injured were children, some with legs, feet, or hands blown off, and others suffering major facial injuries. “We saw children with knees missing, faces shattered—injuries so critical that many didn’t survive,” she added. Her testimony paints a grim picture of the ongoing crisis in Gaza.
