RAWALPINDI: Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Sahir Shamshad Mirza met with Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, during his official visit to Brunei, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said today.
During the visit, General Mirza also held meetings with Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Retd) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Defence-II, and Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Muhammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan, Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces.
At the Muara Naval Base, the CJCSC visited KDB *Darulaman* and later addressed students at the Defence Academy of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces. His lecture, titled *“Pakistan’s Contributions to Regional Peace and Stability,”* highlighted Pakistan’s efforts in promoting peace and combating terrorism. He also interacted with participants of the Command and Staff Course, including officers from 19 foreign countries.
According to ISPR, discussions during the meetings focused on the evolving global and regional security landscape. General Mirza reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening military-to-military relations and enhancing defence cooperation with Brunei Darussalam.
The Sultan and Brunei’s military leadership commended the professionalism of the Pakistan Armed Forces and acknowledged their sacrifices in the fight against terrorism.
Upon his arrival at the Royal Brunei Armed Forces Headquarters, General Mirza was presented with a Guard of Honour by a well-turned-out contingent, reflecting the warm ties and mutual respect between the two nations’ armed forces.
