DUBAI: Dubai International Airport sustained minor damage following what authorities described as an Iranian attack, according to a statement from the emirate’s media office. Four people were injured in the incident and received medical treatment, officials said, as regional tensions continue to escalate.
In a post on X, the Dubai Media Office said, “Dubai Airports confirms that a concourse at Dubai International (DXB) sustained minor damage in an incident, which was quickly contained.” The statement added that emergency response teams acted swiftly to secure the area and prevent further harm.
The injured individuals were treated at the scene and later transferred for additional medical evaluation. Officials did not provide details on the severity of their injuries but said all four were in stable condition.
Dubai International Airport, one of the world’s busiest travel hubs, had already activated contingency measures amid rising regional hostilities. “Due to contingency plans already in place, most of the terminals were previously cleared of passengers,” the media office said, suggesting that precautionary steps helped minimize casualties and operational disruption.
Airport operations were briefly affected as authorities assessed the damage and ensured the safety of facilities. Flights were temporarily delayed, and some were diverted as a precaution. However, officials indicated that normal operations were gradually resuming following safety inspections.
