ISLAMABAD: In a strategic move ahead of the FY2025-26 federal budget, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has carried out a major reshuffle, transferring 54 senior officers across various departments and regions.

According to an official notification, the shake-up affects officers from Grades 17 to 20, including key administrative and operational roles within the FBR structure. The aim is to realign personnel in preparation for the upcoming budget and broader institutional reforms.

The reshuffle includes:

  • 10 officers from BPS-20
  • 32 officers from BPS-19
  • 10 officers from BPS-18
  • 2 officers from BPS-17

Among the notable appointments:

Rashid Habib (BPS-20) has been posted as Director of Non-Financial Businesses and Professions (DNFBPs) in Quetta.

Amjad-ur-Rehman (BPS-20) has been assigned as Director, Customs Valuation in Lahore. Imran Chaudhry has been transferred to the Customs Academy in Islamabad. Muneeza Majeed of the Pakistan Customs Service has taken charge as Director, Transit Trade in Karachi.

The reshuffle is seen as a critical step in improving efficiency and ensuring a smooth rollout of new fiscal measures in the upcoming budget.

Meanwhile, the National Economic Council (NEC) meeting has been scheduled for June 9, 2025, as confirmed by the Ministry of Finance. Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb will brief Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and other NEC members on the upcoming budgetary and economic framework.

The NEC, tasked with final budget approvals, is also expected to endorse public-private partnership initiatives and review the five-year planning strategy. Targets for GDP growth, agriculture, and industrial development are likely to be finalised during the session.

This reshuffle and upcoming NEC meeting are pivotal steps as Pakistan navigates fiscal reform and macroeconomic recovery in the lead-up to the new financial year.
