RAWALPINDI: In a solemn and dignified ceremony held at General Headquarters (GHQ) Rawalpindi, Field Marshal General Asim Munir paid glowing tribute to the martyrs of Pakistan, acknowledging their immense sacrifices in safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty and stability.
Speaking at the event, which was attended by senior military officers, families of the martyrs, and civil dignitaries, Field Marshal Munir stated, “The honour and recognition we receive belong to the martyrs, their families, and the people of Pakistan. It is their blood that has protected our land, and their sacrifice will never be forgotten.”
He emphasized that the martyrs of the armed forces, law enforcement agencies, and civilians are the true heroes of the nation. “Our freedom and peace today are a result of their unwavering courage,” Munir said, adding that the entire nation must remain united in upholding the legacy of these brave souls.
The Field Marshal laid floral wreaths at the Yadgar-e-Shuhada (Martyrs’ Monument) and observed a moment of silence in memory of those who laid down their lives in the line of duty. He also met with the families of several martyrs, reaffirming the military’s continued commitment to support them.
In his address, Munir praised the resilience of the Pakistani people and the strength of the armed forces in the face of evolving threats. “Our resolve is unshakable. We will continue to defend our homeland with honour and pride, inspired by the sacrifices of our martyrs,” he said.
The ceremony comes at a time when the country is navigating regional challenges and internal security concerns. The military leadership used the occasion to reinforce national unity, discipline, and readiness to confront any threat.
The event concluded with a collective prayer for peace, progress, and the eternal reward of the martyrs.
