ABU DHABI: The Abu Dhabi Media Office has confirmed the death of another Pakistani national following a missile interception incident on Thursday. This latest tragedy occurred on Sweihan Street, where falling debris from an intercepted ballistic missile struck several individuals and vehicles. The incident marks a grim milestone as the total number of Pakistani citizens killed in the United Arab Emirates due to aerial interceptions reaches four since the onset of the regional conflict.
According to official statements released on X, the interception resulted in the deaths of two individuals, identified as being of Pakistani and Indian nationality. Additionally, three other people—an Emirati, a Jordanian, and an Indian national—sustained injuries ranging from moderate to serious. Local authorities reported significant property damage, including several destroyed cars in the vicinity of the impact.
The Pakistan Embassy in the UAE has issued a statement expressing profound grief over the loss of life. Embassy officials confirmed they are in close coordination with UAE authorities to provide support to the bereaved family and to expedite the repatriation process for the deceased. This incident follows a series of similar fatalities involving Pakistani expatriates in the region.
On March 17, a Pakistani national was killed under similar circumstances, while another lost his life on March 8 when debris fell on a vehicle in the Al Barsha area of Dubai. The first recorded casualty of this nature was Mureed Zaman, who was killed in Abu Dhabi on February 28, the day hostilities intensified between US-Israeli forces and Iran. Furthermore, a fisherman from Gwadar was reportedly killed in Iranian waters on March 8 after being hit by projectile fragments.
UAE officials have urged the public to rely solely on official government channels for updates and to refrain from spreading unverified information or rumors on social media. As the geopolitical situation remains tense, the safety of the large expatriate community in the Gulf remains a primary concern for diplomatic missions and local security forces alike.
