ISLAMABAD: The federal government on Wednesday assured citizens of uninterrupted gas supply during Sehr and Iftar throughout the holy month of Ramadan to facilitate consumers nationwide.
Speaking at a joint press conference with Power Minister Awais Leghari, Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik said that arrangements have been finalized to provide gas at maximum pressure from 3:00am to 10:30pm during the fasting month.
The petroleum minister stated that an additional volume of gas has been secured to meet increased demand. He also announced that dedicated “situation rooms” have been set up at the head offices of Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) and Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) to ensure uninterrupted supply and respond promptly to consumer complaints.
Regional offices have been directed to closely monitor gas distribution, particularly in tail-end areas. The minister added that all complaints will be handled in accordance with the regulations of the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA). He emphasized that both the Power and Petroleum Divisions aim to provide relief to citizens during Ramadan.
On the occasion, Power Minister Awais Leghari reiterated that there will be no electricity load-shedding during Sehr and Iftar, following special instructions from Shehbaz Sharif.
He said that after a comprehensive review, the Power and Petroleum Divisions have finalized measures to prevent outages during key hours across the country. Even in high-loss or technically sensitive areas, electricity supply will remain uninterrupted during Sehr and Iftar.
The minister further noted that in the event of any major technical fault, immediate steps will be taken to restore power to avoid inconvenience. A special control room has also been established to monitor electricity feeders nationwide. Consumers facing issues were advised to contact the helpline at 118 for swift resolution of complaints.
