COLOMBO: India and Nepal have booked their spots in the final of the inaugural Blind Women’s T20 World Cup after dominant semi-final performances at Colombo’s P. Saravanamuttu Stadium. India defeated Australia by nine wickets, while Nepal overpowered Pakistan by seven wickets, setting up Sunday’s highly anticipated final clash.

In the first semi-final, Australia posted 109-9 in their allotted 20 overs, with Chanakan Buakhao top-scoring with 34 runs. India’s bowling attack, led by Simranjeet Kour who took 1-6 in two overs, applied consistent pressure, and Australia struggled with six run-outs during their innings.

India’s chase was clinical and swift. Basanti Hansda starred with 45 runs, supported by Ganga Kadam’s 41 not out and K Karuna’s unbeaten 16. The Indian side reached the target in just 11.5 overs with only one wicket down, highlighting their dominance and securing a place in the final with ease.

Later in the day, Nepal faced Pakistan in the second semi-final. Pakistan managed 169-6 in their 20 overs, aided by Nepal’s conceding of 47 extras, which contributed to Nepal’s highest score in the tournament. Pakistan’s Shumaila Kiran was the pick of the bowlers with 1-10, while Mehreen Ali went for 1-45.

Chasing 170, Nepal lost two early wickets but remained composed, steadily advancing toward victory. Binita Pun was impressive with 46 runs off 23 balls before being dismissed hit wicket, while Susma Tamang remained not out on 36. Nepal reached the target comfortably with seven wickets in hand, booking a place in the final against India.

The final is scheduled for Sunday at the P. Saravanamuttu Stadium, Sri Lanka’s oldest Test cricket venue, promising an exciting conclusion to the tournament. Both India and Nepal will look to showcase their skills and claim the historic first Blind Women’s T20 World Cup title.
