DUBAI: Iran has seized the oil tanker Ocean Koi in the Gulf of Oman over allegations that the vessel was involved in disrupting Iran’s oil exports, according to Iranian state media reports released on Friday. The incident has further intensified tensions in the Middle East and raised concerns over global oil supply routes.
Iranian military officials stated that the Barbados-flagged tanker was carrying Iranian oil and allegedly attempted to interfere with the country’s petroleum exports by taking advantage of ongoing regional instability. State media reported that Iranian naval forces intercepted the vessel in the Gulf of Oman before escorting it to Iran’s southern coast, where it was handed over to judicial authorities for investigation.
