KSA: Saudi Arabia has completed maintenance work on the Kaaba and the Maqam-e-Ibrahim ahead of Hajj 2026, marking the beginning of preparations for one of the world’s largest religious gatherings. The restoration work, carried out at Masjid al-Haram, was finalized within 47 hours, ensuring the holy site is ready to welcome millions of pilgrims.

As part of the annual tradition, the Ghilaf-e-Kaaba, also known as the Kiswa, has been raised approximately three meters above the ground. The lower portion of the Kaaba has been covered with white cloth, a symbolic act performed every year before the Hajj season to protect the sacred covering and signify the start of pilgrimage preparations.

Saudi authorities have also confirmed that beautification and maintenance work on the Maqam-e-Ibrahim has been completed, enhancing the spiritual environment for pilgrims arriving from across the globe.

Meanwhile, the Saudi General Directorate of Passports has announced full readiness for Hajj 1447H operations. Hajj flights from countries including Pakistan, Indonesia, and others have started arriving, with comprehensive immigration and customs arrangements in place at airports, seaports, and land entry points.

Officials stated that advanced digital systems have been introduced to streamline the arrival process, significantly reducing waiting times for pilgrims. Immigration counters are fully operational, and trained staff are available around the clock to assist visitors, ensuring a smooth and organized experience.

In addition to logistical preparations, Saudi Arabia has introduced strict regulations for Hajj 2026. The Saudi Interior Ministry has announced heavy fines for individuals attempting to perform Hajj without official permits. Violators may face penalties of up to SR20,000, while facilitators providing accommodation or transport could be fined up to SR100,000.

These measures aim to maintain order, ensure safety, and manage the large influx of pilgrims effectively. Authorities emphasized that all institutions are working in coordination to deliver a seamless Hajj experience while upholding regulations.

The completion of maintenance work and the implementation of modern systems highlight Saudi Arabia’s commitment to providing a safe, efficient, and spiritually fulfilling Hajj journey for millions of Muslims worldwide.
