KARACHI: Karachi is forecast to experience favorable weather conditions at the beginning of Ramadan, which is expected to commence on February 19.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), residents can expect cool nights and comfortable mornings during the first half of the holy month, while slightly warmer temperatures are anticipated in the later days.
Deputy Director Anjum Nazir Zaigham stated that daytime temperatures are likely to range between 32°C and 34°C, while nighttime temperatures may remain between 19°C and 21°C.
Meteorologists have also predicted a spell of westerly winds in the early days of Ramadan, which could bring light drizzle to certain areas of the city. Meanwhile, some parts of Sindh and Punjab may receive rain and thunderstorms at the start of the month.
The PMD has forecast clear to partly cloudy skies across much of the country on the evening of February 18, increasing the likelihood of moon sighting. Astronomical data suggests the new moon will be born on February 17 at 5:01pm, and the crescent is expected to be visible on the 29th of Shaaban 1447 AH.
The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will convene in Peshawar on February 18 to review moon sighting reports and make the official announcement regarding the start of Ramadan.
