KARACHI: Intense heat continued to grip Karachi on Tuesday as the suspension of the sea breeze contributed to the rising discomfort. Although the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecasted a maximum temperature of 38°C for the city, the real-feel temperature reached around 40°C, making conditions more severe for residents.

A PMD official stated that rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds, was expected in Karachi later in the evening. Hot and dry weather conditions have also been reported across much of the country. However, parts of southeastern Sindh are likely to experience some relief with scattered rain and thunderstorm activity. Districts such as Umerkot, Tharparkar, Badin, and Sujawal may witness showers along with gusty winds during the afternoon.

The Met Office has also predicted similar weather patterns in Kashmir and surrounding regions, where rainfall and strong winds are expected. On Monday, parts of Tharparkar district received significant rainfall, with Diplo recording the highest at 53mm, followed by Islamkot with 31mm. Mithi saw 18mm, while Badin received 11mm of rain. The PMD continues to monitor the weather conditions and advises residents to take precautions during periods of extreme heat and potential storms.
