KARACHI: The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has launched a formal investigation into an alleged land encroachment case involving Hill Park, one of Karachi’s prominent public recreational spaces. The civic authority has strongly denied issuing any approval, no-objection certificate (NOC), or permission for construction activities on the government-owned land, raising concerns over the use of forged documents in the disputed matter.

According to KMC officials, attempts were made to occupy a portion of the Hill Park area through documents that have now been declared fake. The authority stated that ongoing development work on the site appears to be unauthorized and may constitute an illegal encroachment on public land. The case has attracted significant attention in Karachi news due to the importance of protecting government land from unlawful occupation.

Officials revealed that a document identified as Letter No. DL/KMC/232/2026 has been examined and declared fabricated. The KMC clarified that the letter has no legal standing and cannot be used to justify any construction or development activity within Hill Park. The authority emphasized that no private individual, company, or organization has been granted development rights over the disputed property.

The Director of Land at KMC confirmed that a comprehensive inquiry has been initiated to determine how the alleged forged documents were created and used. As part of the investigation, formal letters have been sent to the SSP East and the SHO of Ferozabad Police Station, requesting legal action and assistance in examining the case.

The disputed property, identified as Plot No. 39-G-4 in the PECHS area, is currently under legal review. KMC officials stated that some parties are allegedly misrepresenting a conditional NOC to support their claims. However, the authority clarified that the document does not authorize the occupation, development, sale, or use of municipal or government land under any circumstances.

The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation has also recommended criminal proceedings against anyone found involved in land grabbing, forgery, fraud, or attempts to illegally acquire public property. Officials stressed that strict action would be taken against those responsible for violating land regulations.

A detailed report regarding the Hill Park land dispute has been submitted to the Mayor of Karachi and senior government officials. The findings of the investigation are expected to play a key role in determining future legal action and safeguarding public assets across Karachi.
