Fans looking forward to the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games will have the opportunity to register for a random ticket draw starting January 14, 2026, LA28 announced on Monday. The ticketing initiative promises affordability and accessibility, with at least 1 million tickets available at the symbolic price of $28, covering all Olympic sports. Registration will be open until March 18, giving fans ample time to participate in the draw without any advantage for early sign-ups.
Fans who register through the LA28 tickets page will secure a chance to purchase tickets in April. Those not selected in the initial draw will automatically be considered for future ticket releases, ensuring multiple opportunities to obtain seats. Allison Katz-Mayfield, LA28’s senior vice president of Games delivery revenue, emphasized that the $28 tickets are “a meaningful number of tickets” and not limited to a few seats in less desirable sections. She also noted that roughly one-third of all tickets will be priced under $100, highlighting LA28’s commitment to keeping the Games affordable for a broad audience.
The ticketing system has been designed to prevent unfair advantages, such as those sometimes seen with brokers or automated bots. Katz-Mayfield described the draw as “the fairest way to ensure that the broadest number of people can get access to tickets,” with no one gaining an upper hand based on registration time. The approach aims to prioritize fans over intermediaries and ensure genuine attendance at the Games.
Residents living near Olympic venues will have the added benefit of a special locals’ presale. This initiative allows local residents to access tickets before the general public, further fostering community involvement and engagement in the Games. Officials also encouraged fans to subscribe to the LA28 newsletter for updates and additional details about the ticketing process.
The 2028 Games in Los Angeles aim to follow the success of Paris 2024, which sold a record 12 million tickets. The LA28 registration process is a year ahead of the timeline used in Paris, reflecting the organizers’ proactive planning to ensure smooth ticket distribution. Ticket sales are expected to contribute to about one-third of LA28’s overall revenue target.
Tickets for the Paralympic Games will go on sale in 2027. LA28 will use official ticketing service providers AXS and Eventim, with all tickets issued digitally to streamline the process. The early registration and draw system highlights LA28’s focus on fairness, accessibility, and fan engagement, making the upcoming Olympics an inclusive and memorable event for spectators worldwide.
