BALOCHISTAN: A Pakistan Army officer was martyred during a successful intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Balochistan's Awaran district, in which three Indian-backed terrorists were killed, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed on Wednesday.

According to the military’s media wing, the operation was launched following credible intelligence reports indicating the presence of terrorists affiliated with Fitna-al-Hindustan, an Indian proxy group operating in the region.

“Security forces effectively engaged the terrorist hideout,” the ISPR said in a statement. “As a result of the intense exchange of fire, three Indian-sponsored terrorists were sent to hell.”

Leading the operation from the front was Major Syed Rabnawaz Tariq, 34, a brave officer hailing from Muzaffarabad, Azad Jammu and Kashmir. He embraced martyrdom during the fierce encounter. The ISPR paid tribute to his courage and leadership, noting that he fought gallantly and laid down his life in the line of duty.

A thorough sanitisation operation is currently underway in the area to eliminate any potential threats that may remain. Security forces continue to maintain a high alert as part of ongoing counter-terrorism efforts in the region.

“The security forces of Pakistan remain resolute in their mission to eliminate Indian-sponsored terrorism from the country,” the ISPR affirmed. “The noble sacrifice of Major Tariq strengthens the resolve of the entire nation to root out terrorism in all its forms.”

The incident highlights ongoing concerns over foreign-sponsored militancy in Balochistan, where separatist and extremist elements have long targeted civilians and military personnel alike. Authorities have repeatedly accused hostile intelligence agencies of funding and arming militant outfits to destabilise the region.

Earlier this week, three people were killed and several others injured in a gun attack on a passenger coach in Kalat, underlining the persistent threat posed by terrorist elements.

The nation mourns the loss of Major Tariq, remembering him as a symbol of unwavering bravery and patriotism.
