NADRA introduces online birth and death registration service

ISLAMABAD: The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has launched a new online service allowing citizens to register births and deaths from home, eliminating the need to visit union councils. This initiative, part of the government’s “Digital Pakistan” vision, is accessible through the Pak ID mobile app.

The system enables users to submit registration details directly to the relevant union council without physically visiting their offices. Initially, this digital service has been introduced in three districts: Chakwal (71 union councils), Jhelum (44 union councils), and Nankana Sahib (65 union councils). NADRA plans to gradually expand the service to the rest of the country.

In addition to this, NADRA’s Pak-Identity portal provides a range of online services such as CNIC renewals, reprints, and updates. However, applying for a CNIC for the first time still requires a physical visit for biometric verification.

To streamline identity registration further, NADRA has simplified its processes and offers multiple fee tiers based on processing time:

  1. Normal (30 days) – PKR 750
  2. Urgent (15 days) – PKR 1,500
  3. Executive (7 days) – PKR 2,500

These digital initiatives aim to enhance accessibility and efficiency in public services, ensuring easier documentation for all citizens.
