ISLAMABAD / BAKU: Pakistan and Azerbaijan have formalised a new chapter in their bilateral relations with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) focused on enhancing cooperation in the legal and judicial sectors.

The MoU was signed between Pakistan’s Ministry of Law and Justice and Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Justice during an official visit to Baku by Federal Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar. The agreement aims to promote collaboration in legal reforms, institutional exchange, rule of law, and alternative dispute resolution.

During his visit, Minister Tarar held meetings with several high-ranking Azerbaijani officials, including Prime Minister Ali Asadov and Minister of Justice Farid Ahmadov. The discussions centered around legal modernisation, digital transformation of legal services, and the strengthening of legal institutions in both countries.

In a separate meeting with Chief Justice of Azerbaijan’s Supreme Court Inam Karimov, both sides explored avenues for judicial reform, the digitalisation of court systems, and more efficient dispute resolution mechanisms.

"The MoU marks a milestone in legal diplomacy, reflecting a shared commitment to justice sector reform and institutional development," said Tarar.

The agreement also highlights both countries' intention to share legal best practices, enhance professional training, and support the digital evolution of their respective legal frameworks.

Officials from both sides reaffirmed their dedication to further strengthening institutional ties and leveraging legal cooperation to advance broader bilateral relations.
