BEIJING: Pakistan and China have jointly presented a five-point peace plan aimed at de-escalating the ongoing tensions linked to the Iran-US conflict, signaling a major diplomatic push for stability in the Gulf and the wider Middle East. The development came after high-level talks in Beijing between Wang Yi and Ishaq Dar.
According to Pakistan’s Foreign Office spokesperson, both countries have called for an immediate ceasefire and the urgent start of peace talks to prevent further escalation. The joint proposal emphasizes dialogue and diplomacy as the only viable solutions to resolve rising geopolitical tensions and avoid a broader regional crisis.
The five-point peace plan highlights the need to halt all hostilities without delay while ensuring uninterrupted humanitarian aid to affected areas. Both sides stressed the importance of protecting civilians and critical infrastructure, including energy installations, desalination plants, and peaceful nuclear facilities, amid growing concerns about regional security.
Pakistan and China also reaffirmed respect for sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national security of all states involved, particularly Iran and Gulf countries. They urged all parties to refrain from the use or threat of force during negotiations and to comply fully with international humanitarian law.
A key focus of the discussions was the strategic importance of the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global energy route. Both nations called for ensuring the safety of commercial shipping and the protection of vessels navigating the waterway, warning that disruptions could significantly impact global oil markets and trade flows.
Furthermore, Pakistan and China emphasized adherence to the United Nations Charter, calling for a stronger global role in maintaining peace and security. They advocated for a multilateral framework based on international law to achieve long-term stability in the Middle East.
