ISLAMABAD: Pakistan strongly condemned Israel’s airstrikes on Iranian territory, calling them "unjustified and illegitimate," and warned they pose a serious threat to regional and global stability.

In a statement released by the Foreign Office on Friday, Pakistan said the Israeli military actions represented a blatant violation of international law and the United Nations Charter, particularly Iran’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. The Foreign Office emphasized that Iran, under Article 51 of the UN Charter, has the right to self-defense in the face of such aggression.

“Israel’s attacks are a grave threat to peace and security not only in the region but beyond,” the statement said. “These acts must be halted immediately, and the international community must hold the aggressor accountable.”

The Israeli military confirmed it launched a large-scale operation against Iranian nuclear and military sites, including the uranium enrichment facility at Natanz. Explosions were reported across Iranian cities, and the elite Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) confirmed the death of its top commander, Major General Hossein Salami, in a strike on Tehran. Iranian media also reported civilian casualties, including children, in residential areas.

Pakistan reaffirmed its solidarity with the people of Iran, denouncing what it described as "blatant provocations" by Israel. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed his deep condolences to the Iranian people over the loss of lives and condemned the unprovoked aggression in the strongest terms.

Calling the act "grave and highly irresponsible," Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar expressed deep alarm over the situation, warning that it could further destabilize an already fragile region. He urged the international community and the United Nations to take swift and decisive action to prevent any escalation that could threaten regional and global peace.

Condemning what he described as "unjustified Israeli aggression" against Iran, Dar labeled the strikes a blatant breach of Iran’s sovereignty and a clear violation of international norms.

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman and former Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari also issued a strong condemnation of what he called Israel’s unprovoked aggression against Iran.
