ISLAMABAD: The Government of Pakistan has issued a travel advisory urging its citizens to avoid non-essential travel to Iran in light of heightened regional tensions following recent Israeli attacks.
According to the advisory, the situation is being closely monitored, and the government remains committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of Pakistani nationals. "This is a temporary measure taken in the interest of public safety," the statement read.
In accordance with directives from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, efforts have already been initiated to facilitate the safe return of Pakistani citizens currently in Iran.
Diplomatic sources revealed that thousands of Pakistani pilgrims and religious tourists remain stranded in both Iran and Iraq. Concerns have also been raised by travelers about limited access to consular assistance. One Pakistani national reported that the emergency contact number of the Pakistani embassy in Tehran was non-functional during a critical time.
Authorities have yet to comment on the issue of consular accessibility, but officials say coordination is underway to assist those affected.
