ISLAMABAD/ISTANBUL: Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Turkiye have prepared a draft trilateral defence agreement after nearly a year of negotiations, signaling growing regional cooperation amid heightened security concerns and regional instability. The development was confirmed by Pakistan’s Minister for Defence Production Raza Hayat Harraj, highlighting a potential shift in defence and security dynamics across South Asia and the Middle East.

Speaking to Reuters, Harraj said the proposed Pakistan Saudi Arabia Turkiye defence agreement is separate from a bilateral Saudi Pakistan defence accord announced last year. He emphasized that the draft defence pact has already been shared with all three countries and has remained under deliberation for the past ten months. According to the minister, a final consensus among the three regional powers is required before the agreement can be formally concluded.

“The Pakistan Saudi Arabia Turkiye trilateral agreement is already in the pipeline,” Harraj stated, adding that all parties are actively reviewing the draft. The talks reflect increasing interest in strengthening defence cooperation, military collaboration, and strategic partnerships as the region faces challenges related to terrorism, geopolitical tensions, and external influence.

Addressing media reports in Istanbul, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan confirmed that discussions had taken place but clarified that no formal defence agreement has yet been signed. He stressed the importance of broader regional cooperation and trust, noting that long-standing distrust among regional nations has often led to instability, conflicts, and external hegemonies.

Fidan said Turkiye supports the idea of an inclusive regional security platform where countries can collectively address defence and security issues. He highlighted President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s vision for wider cooperation aimed at ensuring regional stability and peace. While he did not directly name Pakistan or Saudi Arabia, his remarks underscored Turkiye’s interest in multilateral defence frameworks.

Analysts believe the potential trilateral defence pact could enhance military coordination, defence production collaboration, and intelligence sharing among Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Turkiye. The agreement is being closely watched as defence cooperation, regional security, and strategic alliances remain among the most searched topics on Google, particularly amid ongoing conflicts and shifting global power structures.

If finalized, the Pakistan Saudi Turkiye defence agreement could mark a significant step toward deeper regional integration and collective security efforts.
