Karachi: The Pak-Sudan Business Council successfully organized a distinguished high-level session titled “Combating Non-Traditional Security Issues”, bringing together diplomats, defense analyst, academician, business leaders and civil society members to deliberate on the rapidly evolving global and regional security environment.
The session was spearheaded by Mr. Taab Khan, an enterprising entrepreneur and Honorary Trade Advisor to Sudan, who emphasized the importance of collective national responsibility in addressing emerging security challenges including cyber threats, disinformation, extremism, climate-related risks, and socio-economic instability.
Insightful Discussions by Distinguished Speakers
Delivering the keynote strategic perspective, Brig. (Retd) Haris Nawaz highlighted the changing dimensions of national security and stressed that modern threats require integrated responses involving both state institutions and civil society. He underscored the significance of preparedness, national cohesion, and strategic policymaking in safeguarding Pakistan’s stability and sovereignty.
Renowned academic and international relations expert Prof. Dr. Khalida Ghous spoke extensively on the socio-political and human rights dimensions of non-traditional security threats. She emphasized the need for inclusive governance, education, regional cooperation, and social resilience to effectively counter challenges such as radicalization, misinformation, and humanitarian crises.
Adding an international perspective, Dr. Chotirat shared valuable global best practices and regional experiences in combating non-traditional security threats. The discussion highlighted the importance of diplomatic collaboration, intelligence sharing, and public-private partnerships in addressing transnational challenges.
Tribute to Pakistan Army and National Leadership
Speaking at the occasion, Mr. Taab Khan paid tribute to Field Marshal Asim Munir and the Pakistan Army for their unwavering commitment to national defense and stability. He praised the military’s enduring role in safeguarding Pakistan against both traditional and non-traditional threats, while effectively countering hostile narratives and external aggression.
The legacy of our military leadership is a source of pride for us,Mr. Khan remarked. He further emphasized that while the armed forces continue to defend and promote Pakistan globally, civilians, entrepreneurs, and professionals also carry the responsibility of projecting a soft, progressive, and positive image of Pakistan internationally.
