WASHINGTON: The United States Department of Defense has released a massive collection of previously classified UFO files online, giving the public access to government documents linked to unexplained aerial sightings, military encounters, and unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAPs).
The move marks one of the largest UFO disclosures in recent years and is part of a broader transparency effort ordered during the administration of former US President Donald Trump. Officials say the newly launched archive is designed to improve public understanding of mysterious aerial incidents that have long fueled speculation about alien life and secret military technology.
The online database includes more than 160 documents containing FBI interviews, military reports, NASA mission records, and government communications spanning several decades. The Pentagon stated that additional UFO files will be gradually released over the coming months in cooperation with intelligence agencies, NASA, and the White House.
One of the most discussed reports involves a drone pilot who claimed to witness a bright unidentified object in the sky during 2023. According to the released documents, the glowing object remained visible for several seconds before suddenly disappearing. Investigators reportedly could not immediately identify the object through standard aviation explanations.
Another file drawing attention is connected to the Apollo 17 Moon Landing mission. A NASA image featuring three unusual dots arranged in a triangular formation has resurfaced through the archive. Analysts reviewing the image admitted there is still no confirmed explanation for the anomaly, although some experts believe it may involve a physical object rather than a photographic error.
Despite growing excitement surrounding the UFO files, defense officials continue to warn against assumptions about extraterrestrial life. Experts reviewing the records say many unexplained sightings are eventually linked to classified military technology, atmospheric conditions, or misunderstood aircraft activity.
Interest in UFO investigations has increased significantly since 2022, when several US military personnel publicly discussed encounters with mysterious airborne objects during training operations. Although the Pentagon’s latest UAP assessment found no verified evidence of alien technology, public fascination with UFO sightings and government secrets continues to grow worldwide.
