ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced a cash award of Rs10 million for each member of Pakistan’s Under-19 cricket team in recognition of their Asia Cup triumph against India, stating that the young players have brought immense pride to the nation.
The prime minister hosted the victorious squad at the Prime Minister’s House on Monday, where a luncheon was arranged in their honour. The event was attended by senior government figures, including Interior Minister and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, along with team members and senior PCB officials.
Addressing the ceremony, Prime Minister Shehbaz praised the team’s exceptional performance, saying their achievement had uplifted the spirit of the entire nation. He highlighted the unity and determination shown by the players, as well as the dedication of the team management and the PCB, terming their efforts highly praiseworthy.
The prime minister specifically appreciated the performances of team captain Farhan Yousaf, Ali Raza and Sameer Minhas, while congratulating the entire squad, coaches and support staff for their contribution to the success. He also announced a reward of Rs2.5 million for each member of the team management.
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, speaking on the occasion, described the victory as a historic moment for Pakistan cricket. The players and captain expressed gratitude to the prime minister, acknowledging the PCB’s support and the coaches’ relentless efforts in preparing the team for the tournament.
