Manama: The Prime Minister of Pakistan, Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, met His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa of Bahrain in Manama on Wednesday, reaffirming the longstanding and historic partnership between the two brotherly nations. The Prime Minister expressed gratitude for Bahrain’s warm hospitality and commended the King’s leadership in promoting peace, tolerance, and coexistence.
During the meeting, His Majesty conferred upon Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif the **Order of Bahrain (first class)**, the highest award granted by Bahrain to heads of state and government. King Hamad also highlighted the historical connection between the two nations, noting that Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah had served as Bahrain’s legal representative for many years.
Both sides reviewed the positive trajectory of bilateral relations and agreed to enhance cooperation in political, economic, defence, and cultural sectors. The Prime Minister reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to deepening ties based on shared faith, values, and mutual respect.
Acknowledging Bahrain’s support for Pakistan, the Prime Minister thanked His Majesty for establishing the **King Hamad University for Nursing and Allied Medical Sciences** in Islamabad, inaugurated in September 2025. He also expressed appreciation for Bahrain’s solidarity following recent terrorist incidents in Pakistan.
Economic cooperation featured prominently in the discussions. The Prime Minister highlighted Pakistan’s intent to expand trade and investment, particularly with the upcoming **Pakistan–GCC Free Trade Agreement**, now in its final stages. He invited Bahraini investors to explore opportunities through the **Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC)** in sectors including food security, IT, construction, mining, tourism, and healthcare.
Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to a robust defence partnership, covering training, logistics, manpower, and defence production. They also discussed recent developments in Gaza, emphasizing the urgent need for peace and stability for its long-suffering people.
The meeting concluded with both sides expressing confidence that the visit would further consolidate the enduring friendship, cooperation, and strategic partnership between Pakistan and Bahrain.
