**PTI Announces Massive Karachi Rally to Launch Nationwide Campaign for Imran Khan’s Release**
KARACHI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) declared on Wednesday that a “massive public rally” will be held in Karachi this November to kick off a nationwide campaign aimed at mobilizing public support for the release of party founder Imran Khan.
The announcement came after PTI Secretary General Barrister Salman Akram Raja’s visit to Karachi, where he met with key party leaders including PTI Sindh President Haleem Adil Sheikh, Parliamentary Leader Shabbir Qureshi, and Jamal Siddiqui. During the meetings, Raja discussed the current political landscape, strategies for Imran Khan’s release, and organizational matters.
Addressing the media, Raja confirmed the Karachi rally would be followed by similar events in Hyderabad and other major cities as part of a broad public engagement initiative. He emphasized the party’s unity and determination in pushing for Imran Khan’s freedom.
Raja also announced recent party appointments, naming Mahmood Khan Achakzai as opposition leader in the National Assembly, Raja Nasir Abbas in the Senate, and Sohail Afridi as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s chief minister. He described these moves as signs of “political renewal” within PTI.
Raja reaffirmed PTI’s commitment to constitutional supremacy and rule of law, asserting that the legal cases against Imran Khan are baseless and merely delay justice. He quoted Imran urging supporters to have faith and continue the struggle against oppression.
Highlighting concerns over Sindh’s governance, Raja criticized the PPP for “ruining” the province over 17 years, pointing to corruption, lawlessness, and insecurity as reasons for public despair. He noted strong support for Imran Khan during his visits across Sindh.
Imran Khan has been imprisoned since August 2023 on corruption charges and faces ongoing trials under the Anti-Terrorism Act related to the May 9 protests. PTI has raised concerns about restrictions on his access to family and legal counsel. Recently, the party revealed Imran offered to mediate between Pakistan and Afghanistan if released on parole.
The planned rallies mark PTI’s intensified efforts to rally nationwide support for Imran Khan amid a challenging political climate.
