ABU DHABI: UAE weather authorities have issued public alerts warning of a major dust storm expected ahead of the New Year. The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) advised residents and motorists to strictly follow safety guidelines, as strong winds may significantly reduce visibility and create dangerous driving conditions. Authorities urged the public to limit outdoor exposure to dust and sand, keep doors and windows closed, and rely on official weather updates. Drivers were specifically cautioned to observe traffic rules during dusty conditions. Weather forecasts for Monday,
December 29, 2025, indicate partly cloudy to cloudy skies with possible rainfall in coastal, northern, and eastern regions. Moderate to strong southwesterly and northwesterly winds are expected to stir dust, with speeds reaching up to 45–50 km/h.
The NCM also warned of rough sea conditions, issuing yellow alerts as wave heights along the UAE coast may rise to nearly seven feet due to unstable weather patterns.
