KARACHI: After days of sweltering heat and high humidity, Karachi residents experienced much-needed relief on Thursday as the sea breeze made a welcome return, leading to a drop in temperature and improved weather conditions.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, the flow of cool, moist air from the Arabian Sea has significantly reduced humidity levels in the city, easing discomfort for millions of citizens. The return of the sea breeze, a key factor in regulating coastal temperatures, has brought a more tolerable atmosphere to the usually heat-stricken metropolis.

“The sea breeze has resumed, bringing down the humidity and slightly lowering the temperature,” a Met Department spokesperson said. “This change has provided considerable relief from the intense heat Karachiites have been facing.”

Despite the improvement, weather officials forecast that daytime temperatures could still reach up to 36°C, with partly cloudy skies expected to prevail. However, the presence of the breeze is likely to keep conditions more bearable compared to the previous days of dry, stagnant air.

Health experts advise the public to continue taking precautions, especially during peak afternoon hours. Staying hydrated, avoiding direct sun exposure, and using sun protection are still recommended.

Karachi, known for its coastal climate, often depends on the sea breeze to moderate extreme heat. In recent days, the absence of the breeze had caused temperatures to rise sharply, with the city experiencing high humidity that made conditions feel even hotter.

Citizens took to social media to express their relief, with many celebrating the cooler winds. “Finally, the breeze is back — it actually feels like we can breathe again,” one resident wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

The Meteorological Department will continue monitoring the weather pattern, but for now, Karachi can expect slightly more pleasant conditions as the sea breeze continues to blow.
