ISLAMABAD:  Senator Chaudhry Abid Sher Ali has formally urged President Asif Ali Zardari to confer one of Pakistan's highest civil awards on renowned Ayurvedic physician Dr. Nasir Saleem Nasaka in recognition of his more than four decades of distinguished humanitarian and healthcare services.

According to official documents, a recommendation submitted by Senator Sher Ali was received at the President's Secretariat, Islamabad, on May 21, 2026, following a letter dated May 20, 2026, in which the senator strongly recommended Dr. Nasaka for a prestigious national honour, including the Hilal-e-Imtiaz or Nishan-e-Imtiaz.

In his letter to the President, Senator Sher Ali highlighted Dr. Nasaka's lifelong dedication to serving humanity through Ayurvedic medicine. He noted that the veteran physician has spent over 40 years treating thousands of patients across Pakistan, particularly the poor, underprivileged and those suffering from chronic and terminal illnesses, without charging any consultation fee.

The senator described Dr. Nasaka as a symbol of compassion, selfless service and patriotism, stating that his unwavering commitment to healthcare reflects the highest ideals of public service. He observed that individuals who dedicate their lives to serving humanity without personal gain deserve recognition at the national level.

Senator Sher Ali further emphasized that Dr. Nasaka's remarkable contribution to promoting traditional and alternative medicine, coupled with his humanitarian efforts to provide relief to countless deserving patients, makes him a worthy candidate for one of Pakistan's highest civilian honours.

Requesting sympathetic consideration of the recommendation, the senator asked the President to have the case examined strictly on merit. He also enclosed a copy of Dr. Nasaka's personal representation for reference, subject to verification by the relevant authorities.

The recommendation has now become part of the official record of the President's Secretariat, where it is expected to be processed in accordance with the established procedures governing nominations for national civil awards.

Dr. Nasir Saleem Nasaka is widely respected in medical and social circles for his exceptional contribution to Ayurvedic medicine and humanitarian service.
