KARACHI: The Sindh government has accelerated its push toward digital governance, launching an expanded phase of the e-stamping system aimed at improving transparency, efficiency, and public service delivery.
The initiative, formalized through an agreement between the Board of Revenue Sindh and the Sindh Information Technology Company, focuses on digitising official documentation, curbing fake stamp papers, and simplifying processes for citizens.
Officials said the system has already processed over 730,000 challans within a few months, generating approximately Rs12.8 billion in revenue through transparent digital means. The move is also helping eliminate fraudulent practices such as backdated documentation and reducing the need for in-person visits to government offices.
Authorities highlighted that the next phase will introduce a fully paperless system, allowing users to generate stamp documents online via computers or mobile devices. The reform is part of a broader strategy to modernize governance and improve accessibility to public services.
The government is also working on additional digital initiatives, including a unified payment platform for taxes and fees, secure data hosting infrastructure, and the use of advanced technologies to assist citizens in multiple languages.
Officials emphasized that these reforms aim to reduce corruption, streamline administrative procedures, and bring government services directly to the public through digital platforms.
