KARACHI: The Sindh government has announced that it will begin distributing free pink electric scooters to working women and female students this week, under its Pink Scooters Program.
The decision was finalized in a meeting chaired by Senior Provincial Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, who reviewed the program’s details before giving the green light for immediate rollout.
Memon described the initiative as a groundbreaking step toward women’s empowerment, emphasizing that affordable and safe transport will help women pursue education and employment without mobility constraints. He encouraged both students and professionals to take full advantage of the scheme.
Highlighting the broader vision, Memon said the provincial government remains committed to creating equal opportunities for women and ensuring their active participation in all walks of life. He noted that transportation challenges often restrict women’s independence and career growth, and this project directly addresses those barriers.
The free distribution of pink electric scooters, he added, is part of Sindh’s wider commitment to gender equality and sustainable transport solutions. Officials hope the program will not only ease daily commuting but also inspire confidence among women to engage more freely in social and economic activities.
