ISLAMABAD: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has warned that the Taliban’s failure to honour its commitments under the Doha Agreement is fueling regional instability. Speaking at the opening session of the international conference “Pakistan’s War on Terror for the World,” organised by the Islamabad Policy Research Institute, Bilawal urged Afghanistan’s interim government to fulfil its obligations and curb terrorism.

“We did not invite this carnage, yet when terror crossed our borders, we resisted,” he said, highlighting Pakistan’s ongoing fight against terrorism to secure a safer future. He stressed that the Taliban’s broken promises have severe consequences, calling on them to stop the flow of fighters and arms to prevent further violence.

Bilawal cited the deadly toll of 2024, with 685 Pakistani service members martyred in 444 attacks and over 1,600 civilians killed. “These are vacant chairs at breakfast tables, not mere statistics,” he said, reaffirming Pakistan’s resolve to combat extremism.

He also addressed the global nature of terrorism, explaining how extremist propaganda spreads beyond borders and emphasizing that Pakistan’s fight is part of a broader civilizational defense.

In addition, Bilawal urged India to engage in dialogue for lasting peace, calling for the resolution of the Kashmir dispute according to the people’s aspirations and an end to using water as a geopolitical tool.

Highlighting Pakistan’s sacrifices, he recalled successful military operations like Zarb-e-Azab and Raddul Fassad that weakened terrorist networks and stressed the need for the international community to unite against terrorism.

“Terrorism recognises no borders or beliefs,” Bilawal said, advocating global cooperation to eliminate the threat.
