Trump meets PM Shehbaz, other Muslim leaders on UNGA sidelines

NEW YORK: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met U.S. President Donald Trump on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, where both leaders exchanged greetings in a cordial atmosphere. The interaction featured a warm handshake and a brief conversation, with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar also present.

The meeting took place during the Arab-Islamic Summit, jointly hosted by President Trump and the Amir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. On the occasion, Prime Minister Shehbaz also engaged with several Muslim leaders, including King Abdullah II of Jordan, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, and the Emir of Qatar. These interactions were characterized by friendly discussions and informal exchanges.

Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz held a bilateral meeting with Crown Prince of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah. He conveyed his respects and good wishes for the Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and appreciated Kuwait’s support and solidarity after the recent floods in Pakistan.

The Prime Minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening relations with Kuwait, particularly in the areas of trade, investment, manpower, agriculture, livestock, and health, while highlighting the historic bonds of friendship and cooperation between the two nations.
