Gaza: The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) has once again called on Israel to immediately lift its siege on Gaza, warning of worsening humanitarian conditions for the nearly two million residents trapped in the territory.
In a statement posted on its official X (formerly Twitter) account, UNRWA highlighted the dire impact of the blockade, especially on children and families living in overcrowded shelters amid soaring summer temperatures.
“No soap, no clean water. Children in Gaza can’t be bathed properly because of the ongoing siege,” the agency said. “This, coupled with overcrowded shelters and summer heat, can lead to dire health consequences. The siege must be lifted.”
According to Al Jazeera, the agency is urging Israel to allow the immediate resumption of humanitarian aid deliveries, which have been severely restricted for months. Health risks, including the spread of disease and dehydration, are escalating as essential supplies like water, hygiene products, and medicine remain blocked.
UNRWA, which provides critical support to Palestinian refugees, has repeatedly warned that Gaza’s deteriorating conditions could lead to a full-blown health catastrophe if restrictions are not eased.
International pressure continues to mount on Israel to facilitate unimpeded access for humanitarian assistance. However, as the blockade persists, the people of Gaza face a growing crisis with no end in sight
