Veteran Journalist Resident Editor of The Financial Daily Syed Munawar Hussain Naqvi Passes away

ISLAMABAD: Syed Munawar Hussain Naqvi, Resident Editor of Financial Daily International, passed away in Islamabad on Sunday morning at the age of 74.

Elder brother of Financial Daily’s Executive Editor Manzar Naqvi, he began his journalism career with Daily Sun Karachi and later worked with Daily Sun Lahore, Daily Muslim Islamabad, and The Nation Islamabad.

He also served in the Higher Education Commission (HEC) where he was editor of Higher Education News and rose to the position of Director Academics, retiring in that capacity.

After retirement, he returned to journalism, contributing to leading English newspapers in Pakistan. At Financial Daily International, he not only served as Resident Editor but also wrote the popular weekly column Capital Watch, known for its sharp insights on political, economic, and social affairs.

He is survived by his wife, son Abbas Naqvi, and daughter Sadaf Naqvi. His funeral was held in Islamabad on Sunday, attended by family members, colleagues, friends, and members of the journalist community.

Financial Daily International expressed deep sorrow at his passing and prayed for the departed soul, asking readers and friends to remember him in their prayers. May Allah Almighty grant him the highest place in Jannah and forgive his shortcomings.
