RAWALPINDI: Pakistan’s security forces eliminated at least 41 militants in two separate intelligence-based operations (IBOs) carried out in Balochistan, according to a statement issued by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Friday.
The first operation took place near the outskirts of Harnai District after intelligence reports indicated the presence of “Indian-sponsored Khawarij” elements in the area. ISPR said troops engaged the militants in a fierce gun battle, resulting in the deaths of 30 terrorists. Security forces also recovered and destroyed a substantial quantity of weapons, ammunition, and explosives found at the site.
In a separate action in Panjgur District, security personnel targeted a militant hideout, killing 11 terrorists linked with “Fitna-e-Hindustan.” ISPR stated that arms, ammunition, and cash looted during a bank robbery in Panjgur on December 15 were recovered. The militants were reportedly involved in several previous attacks.
ISPR added that clearance and search operations are continuing in both regions to eliminate any remaining threats. These actions are part of ongoing counterterrorism efforts under the “Azm-e-Istehkam” initiative, approved by the Federal Apex Committee within the framework of the National Action Plan.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the security forces for their success, stating that consistent achievements against terrorism reflect the vision of Azm-e-Istehkam and reaffirming that the nation stands united with the armed forces. President Asif Ali Zardari also commended the operations, saying decisive action against groups such as Fitna al-Khawarij and Fitna-e-Hindustan demonstrates the state’s firm commitment to eradicating terrorism.
