GAZA CITY: A four-year-old boy, Mohammed Yassin, has tragically died from starvation in Gaza City, according to the local civil defence agency. His death highlights the increasingly dire humanitarian crisis caused by Israel’s ongoing blockade, which has severely restricted the entry of food, water, and other essential aid into the Gaza Strip.
“This is not the first child to die in Gaza due to starvation,” said Mahmoud Basal, a spokesperson for the civil defence. He warned that without immediate humanitarian access, more children are at risk. “If food and drink are not allowed to reach the people of the Gaza Strip, we will witness many more deaths of these children. We will witness more deaths.”
The blockade has exacerbated already critical living conditions in Gaza, where supplies of food and clean water are becoming increasingly scarce. Basal urged the international community to intervene and help end the suffering of civilians, particularly vulnerable children. He emphasized the need for swift action to prevent further loss of life and called for humanitarian aid to be allowed into the besieged territory without delay.
