ISLAMABAD: Senator Faisal Vawda has warned political parties against interfering in ongoing operations against militants, stressing that counterterrorism efforts must remain free from political influence.

Speaking to reporters outside Parliament House, Vawda said the country required unity at a time when security forces were making immense sacrifices. He noted that funerals of martyred soldiers were taking place while some political elements continued to engage in criticism rather than standing with the nation.

He emphasized that terrorism demanded a firm and unambiguous response, warning that any political group attempting to obstruct security operations would face strict action.

Referring to the recent wave of unrest, Vawda described it as the beginning of “Operation Sindoor II,” which he claimed was part of a proxy war being waged by India. He cautioned that if the situation escalated into a conventional conflict, Pakistan would respond with even greater force, adding that any country allowing its territory to be used against Pakistan would also face consequences.

Commenting on the political situation at home, Vawda criticized deepening divisions among parties. He pointed out that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) had canceled political activities and that the Punjab government observed a day of mourning. However, he expressed disappointment that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) did not withdraw its protest call.

He further remarked that PTI’s strike call went largely unnoticed and described ongoing political negotiations as lacking seriousness.

Vawda urged political leaders to address internal matters responsibly and said proposals should be considered even if they came from JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, whom he described as a patriotic citizen.

He also raised the issue of accountability, criticizing politicians who had accumulated vast wealth despite modest backgrounds. Concluding his remarks, Faisal Vawda said dialogue and negotiations remained the only viable path to meaningful change, adding that talks with the PTI founder could move forward if proper procedures were followed.
