ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Asim Munir met with Indonesian Defence Minister Lieutenant General (Retd) Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin at General Headquarters (GHQ) Rawalpindi on Tuesday to discuss enhanced military cooperation, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported.
The visiting Indonesian minister, accompanied by a delegation of senior officials from various military and intelligence sectors, held extensive talks with Pakistan’s top military leadership. The discussions covered key areas such as regional security, defence collaboration, and strategies to boost bilateral military engagement.
Both sides reiterated their commitment to strengthening long-standing defence ties and highlighted the importance of continued cooperation to ensure regional peace and stability. The leaders also shared views on evolving security dynamics and underscored the value of military-to-military coordination in countering common threats.
Field Marshal Munir emphasized the role of collective efforts in preserving regional peace and acknowledged Indonesia as a key partner in promoting strategic stability in the Asia-Pacific region. The Indonesian defence minister praised the professionalism of the Pakistan Army and lauded its successful counterterrorism operations.
The meeting reflects a shared commitment to expand defence collaboration and build on the historic friendship between Pakistan and Indonesia.
