KARACHI: Consumers in Pakistan may see a significant relief in fuel prices starting October 16, 2025, with a potential drop of up to Rs6 per litre in petroleum product rates.

According to industry estimates, petrol prices are expected to decrease by Rs6.10 per litre, bringing the new rate to Rs262.58. The price of high-speed diesel (HSD) is likely to decline marginally by Rs0.97, settling at Rs275.84 per litre.

Kerosene oil could see a reduction of Rs2.75 to Rs182.22 per litre, while light diesel oil (LDO) may be cut by Rs1.64, lowering it to Rs163.86 per litre.

These anticipated reductions are attributed to declining global crude oil prices and a stable exchange rate of the Pakistani rupee against the US dollar. The current import premium is $6.62 per barrel for petrol and $3.20 for diesel.

Presently, consumers pay Rs80.52 per litre in petroleum levy and carbon surcharge on petrol and Rs79.51 on diesel. The Inland Freight Equalisation Margin (IFEM) stands at Rs8.69 for petrol and Rs6.19 for diesel.

The Ministry of Finance will finalize and announce the revised prices on October 15, after reviewing international pricing and currency data. The new rates will take effect from midnight, October 16, 2025.
