Govinda, Sunita Ahuja call off divorce

MUMBAI: Sunita Ahuja, wife of veteran Bollywood actor Govinda, has withdrawn her divorce petition, ending weeks of speculation about the future of the couple’s long marriage.

According to Govinda’s manager, Sunita has reconsidered her decision and the couple are not separating. Speaking to The Indian Express, the manager said Sunita had acted emotionally when she filed the case but later decided to withdraw it.

The development comes after a series of public comments and reports about disagreements between the couple. Speculation intensified after Govinda was seen at an airport with his Roopa co-star Komal Rani Swarnkar.

Reports said Sunita had questioned the actor’s interaction with his co-star and made remarks about their professional association. Govinda later urged his wife to avoid public statements that could affect his reputation and professional career.

The couple’s relationship had come under renewed public attention after Sunita reportedly approached the Bandra Family Court in December 2024. She sought relief under provisions of the Hindu Marriage Act and reportedly raised allegations of infidelity.

However, Govinda’s manager has now confirmed that the divorce case has been withdrawn and there is no separation between the actor and his wife.

The manager described the development as positive news and said disagreements can happen in relationships. He added that Govinda and the couple’s children had maintained a neutral position regarding the matter.

He also expressed regret that the family dispute became public but said the issue was now in the past.

The latest development has brought relief to fans who had followed reports about the couple’s relationship. Govinda and Sunita have been married for more than four decades and have two children.

Meanwhile, Govinda’s upcoming film Roopa remains in production, with shooting reportedly continuing. The movie’s official release date has not yet been announced.

The withdrawal of the divorce petition appears to have brought an end to the latest chapter in the couple’s highly publicised marital dispute, with the actor’s manager maintaining that they have decided to remain together.
