The trailer opens with jungle creatures running wild through suburban neighbourhoods during the Christmas season, suggesting that the dangers of the game are beginning to spill into the real world.
Spencer Gilpin, played by Alex Wolff, becomes distressed when his mother, portrayed by Marin Hinkle, is drawn into the game. In a humorous sequence, Johnson’s Dr Xander “Smolder” Bravestone refuses to fight, while Gillan’s Ruby Roundhouse attempts to defend her.
The preview also features new character transformations. Tyson, the young nephew of Nora, becomes Franklin “Mouse” Finbar, played by Hart, while chef Donatas transforms into Professor Sheldon “Shelly” Oberon, portrayed by Black.
Spencer warns that losing the game could lead to the destruction of their house, raising the stakes as the characters face a series of dangerous challenges.
The trailer also confirms the return of Nick Jonas as Jefferson “Seaplane” McDonough and teases what is described as “one final game”.
The upcoming instalment promises more body-swapping comedy, spectacular action and jungle-inspired chaos, continuing the franchise’s blend of fantasy, humour and adventure.
Jake Kasdan, Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg wrote the screenplay, based on Chris Van Allsburg’s original Jumanji book. The film is produced by Matt Tolmach, Kasdan, Johnson, Dany Garcia and Hiram Garcia, alongside other producers and executive producers.
