ISLAMABAD: The government is expected to begin collecting payments for Hajj 2026 in the first week of August, citing informed sources.
According to reports, the Hajj expenses will be collected in two instalments. The first instalment—expected to range between Rs500,000 and Rs550,000—will be accepted only from those who have already completed their registration for Hajj 2026.
The Ministry of Religious Affairs has authorized select banks to collect the payments. No other institution or platform will be permitted to handle the collection process.
Sources revealed that once payments have been received up to the quota limit, the process will be paused. Pakistan currently holds a quota of 179,210 pilgrims under both public and private Hajj schemes combined.
So far, more than 450,000 Pakistanis have registered for the upcoming pilgrimage. In light of this overwhelming demand, Pakistan is reportedly negotiating with Saudi authorities for an increased quota of up to 230,000 pilgrims, citing population growth as justification.
Further details, including the second instalment schedule and package breakdown, are expected to be announced after the official launch of the payment process next month.
