ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Religious Affairs announced on Wednesday a two-day extension in the registration deadline for Hajj 2026, allowing prospective pilgrims to apply until Friday, July 11, 2025.
The extension comes in response to overwhelming public demand. According to ministry spokesperson Muhammad Umar Butt, the decision was made after numerous requests were received from intending pilgrims who needed more time to complete their registration.
So far, over 313,000 applicants have successfully registered for the upcoming pilgrimage, reflecting strong interest and participation. The registration process remains open through 15 designated banks across the country, as well as the ministry’s official online portal.
“This extension is to facilitate those who have yet to complete their paperwork due to various reasons,” said Butt, urging interested applicants to take advantage of the final opportunity.
He also clarified that details regarding the cost of the pilgrimage, travel arrangements, and other terms and conditions will be announced separately. “All logistical and financial details will be shared soon,” he said.
The ministry has reiterated its commitment to ensuring a smooth and transparent Hajj process. Special helplines and guidance desks have also been set up at major branches of the designated banks to assist applicants with the registration procedure.
The Hajj pilgrimage, one of the five pillars of Islam, is a once-in-a-lifetime obligation for Muslims who are physically and financially able. Pakistan's Hajj quota is distributed under both government and private schemes, with the government scheme usually attracting hundreds of thousands of applicants.
This extension marks the final opportunity for those seeking to perform Hajj in 2026 under the government scheme. Officials have advised potential pilgrims to submit their applications as soon as possible to avoid last-minute issues.
Further announcements regarding balloting, training sessions, and travel schedules are expected in the coming weeks.
