KARACHI: Investigators probing the murder of businessman Mir Raza Ali Khan have obtained CCTV footage from a mosque near the location where his body was found, shedding light on the timeline surrounding the discovery.
Mir Raza Ali went missing on July 28 after leaving his home in PECHS, Block 2. His bullet-riddled body was recovered a day later from bushes opposite the University of Karachi near Shahi Qila Ground in Gulistan-i-Jauhar.
According to investigative sources, CCTV footage has helped investigators establish when the body was first spotted and when police and an ambulance arrived at the scene.
Sources said a gardener discovered the body at around 11:52 a.m. on July 29 and alerted police. Two police officers initially reached the location on a motorcycle, followed by a police mobile unit.
An ambulance arrived at approximately 12:50 p.m. and reportedly left the scene with the body at 1:46 p.m. Investigators said the crime scene team had not reached the location even more than two hours after the body was discovered.
The CCTV footage is now being examined as part of the wider investigation to establish movements around the area and identify possible leads.
Sources further said the gardener had watered the area on July 28, a day before the body was found, and no body was present at the location at that time.
Investigators have also conducted geofencing around the site and are reviewing additional CCTV recordings to trace movements in the area and collect further evidence.
The latest findings could help investigators establish a clearer timeline of events and determine how and when Mir Raza Ali’s body was brought to the location.
