KARACHI: Gold prices in Pakistan increased on Monday, August 17, 2026, following a rise in international bullion rates as investors continued to monitor geopolitical developments and market uncertainty.
According to rates issued by the All Pakistan Sarafa Gems and Jewellers Association (APSGJA), the price of 24-karat gold increased by Rs2,000 per tola, reaching Rs461,936, compared with Rs459,936 recorded in the previous session.
The price of 24-karat gold also climbed in the 10-gram category. The rate increased by Rs1,715 to Rs396,035, from Rs394,320 previously.
International gold prices
Gold prices also gained in the international market. According to the APSGJA, the international price of gold increased by $20 per ounce to $4,395, compared with $4,375 in the previous session.
The rise in global bullion prices was reflected in the domestic market, supporting higher gold rates for Pakistani buyers and investors.
Silver prices also increase
Silver prices also recorded an increase in Pakistan on Monday. The price of silver rose by Rs80 per tola, reaching Rs7,029 from Rs6,951 in the previous session.
Market participants continued to closely monitor geopolitical developments, particularly tensions involving Iran and the United States and efforts to secure a permanent end to the conflict in the Gulf.
Oil prices also moved higher as expectations of a US-Iran peace breakthrough weakened and tanker traffic through the Strait of Hormuz slowed. Brent crude futures climbed as much as 1% to $89.40 per barrel before trading at around $89.20, while US West Texas Intermediate crude futures rose to $82.83 per barrel.
Both oil benchmarks had gained more than 5% during the previous week following attacks involving tankers operated by Abu Dhabi National Oil Company in the Strait of Hormuz and an incident involving a Saudi Aramco refinery.
Gold is widely regarded as a safe-haven asset during periods of geopolitical and economic uncertainty. Global gold prices are influenced by investor risk sentiment, inflation expectations and interest-rate outlooks.
The latest increase is expected to keep gold prices in focus among Pakistani investors and consumers monitoring the local bullion market.
