ISLAMABAD: Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, has said that India fired missiles at multiple locations inside Pakistan, including Bahawalpur, Muzaffarabad, and Kotli.
Addressing a press briefing on Wednesday, the military spokesperson stated that the hostile action was carried out through aerial platforms and described it as a clear violation of Pakistan’s airspace and territorial sovereignty.
“On May 07, 2025, Indian aircraft fired precision-guided missiles which landed near civilian and military installations in Bahawalpur, Muzaffarabad, and Kotli. Fortunately, there were no casualties, but such reckless aggression could have escalated into a serious conflict,” said Lt Gen Chaudhry.
He added that Pakistan’s air defence systems responded swiftly, tracking and intercepting several incoming threats, thereby averting a major disaster. The DG ISPR emphasized that Pakistan reserves the right to respond at a time and place of its choosing.
“This provocative act is not only a breach of international norms, but also a grave threat to regional peace and stability,” he said. “Pakistan has lodged a strong protest through diplomatic channels and will raise the issue at international forums.”
The Foreign Office also released a statement condemning the Indian action, calling it “irresponsible and provocative.” The statement urged the international community to take notice and play a role in de-escalating tensions in the region.
Lt Gen Chaudhry reiterated Pakistan's commitment to peace but warned that any further violation of its sovereignty would be met with a “decisive and forceful” response. “Our armed forces are fully prepared to defend every inch of our homeland,” he added.
The incident marks a serious uptick in military tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbours, who have fought multiple wars and frequently exchange fire across the Line of Control (LoC).
As of now, the Indian government has not issued an official statement regarding the allegations. Tensions remain high, and both sides are reportedly on heightened alert.
Further developments are expected as Pakistan seeks international support and clarity on the matter.
