TEHRAN: Iran has appreciated Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts while rejecting reports that it refused to attend peace talks in Islamabad. Speaking on Saturday, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi clarified that Tehran has never declined any invitation from Pakistan and remains open to dialogue under appropriate conditions.

In a statement shared on social media platform X, Araghchi said that certain international media outlets had misrepresented Iran’s stance on the proposed talks. He emphasized that Iran values Pakistan’s role as a mediator in the ongoing regional tensions and expressed gratitude for Islamabad’s peace initiatives. Highlighting this sentiment, he even shared a message in Urdu praising Pakistan’s efforts.

The Iranian foreign minister stated that Tehran’s priority is achieving a lasting and fair resolution to the conflict rather than rejecting dialogue opportunities. He stressed that any peace negotiations must focus on ending what he described as an imposed conflict.

Araghchi also raised serious concerns about recent military actions targeting Iran’s nuclear and petrochemical facilities. He warned that repeated strikes on the Bushehr nuclear plant by the United States and Israel could lead to dangerous radioactive fallout. According to him, such consequences would not only affect Iran but could also pose risks to neighboring Gulf countries.

Pakistan has recently intensified its diplomatic engagement by hosting high-level talks involving Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Egypt. The discussions focused on reducing tensions in the region and exploring possible pathways for peace, although no major breakthrough was announced.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Foreign Office has strongly rejected what it termed as false and misleading reports attributed to unnamed official sources regarding the conflict and Pakistan’s mediation role. Spokesperson Tahir Andrabi stated that certain media narratives were inaccurate and misrepresented official briefings.

He urged media organizations to act responsibly and rely on verified information issued through official channels, especially during a time of heightened regional sensitivity. The Foreign Office reiterated that Pakistan remains committed to promoting peace, dialogue, and stability in the region.

As tensions continue, Pakistan’s position as a neutral mediator is gaining attention, with Islamabad being considered a potential venue for future diplomatic negotiations between key global and regional stakeholders.
