Iran warns US of strong response after fresh strikes

TEHRAN: Iran has vowed to respond decisively to any future military action by the United States, accusing Washington of violating a recently agreed ceasefire through fresh airstrikes. The warning comes as tensions between the two countries continue to rise despite an interim agreement aimed at ending months of conflict.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry said the latest US strikes on Iran breached the ceasefire terms outlined in a memorandum of understanding. A spokesperson for the ministry claimed the attacks proved that Washington could not be trusted to uphold its commitments, adding that breaking agreements has become a pattern of US policy.

The ministry stressed that Iran would defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity against any external threat. Officials warned that any further aggression would be met with a firm and immediate response.

The renewed escalation follows reports of continued military exchanges in the Gulf, with both Tehran and Washington accusing each other of violating the interim agreement signed less than two weeks ago. The deal was intended to halt fighting, restore maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz, and pave the way for negotiations over Iran’s nuclear programme and other regional issues.

The latest developments came after US President Donald Trump warned that the United States could "militarily complete the job" if tensions continued. In response, Iran reportedly launched missiles and drones targeting US military facilities in Kuwait and Bahrain early Sunday.

Meanwhile, the US military confirmed carrying out additional strikes on Iranian positions, hours after a tanker was attacked in the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's most important oil shipping routes. A US official said the situation remained fluid but reported no American casualties or significant damage to US military installations.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guards also condemned the attacks, declaring that the Iran ceasefire violation by the United States would end all diplomatic efforts. In a statement carried by state media, the Guards warned that American military bases across the region would face severe consequences in the coming days.

The latest Iran US conflict has raised fresh concerns over regional stability, with growing fears that escalating Gulf tensions could disrupt global energy supplies and further undermine diplomatic efforts.
