ISLAMABAD: Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry has warned that Pakistan will deliver a swift and forceful response to any ceasefire violation by India.

In an interview with a British TV channel, the military spokesperson emphasized that any incursion or act undermining Pakistan’s sovereignty would trigger an immediate and severe reaction. “Any threat to our territorial integrity will be met with a decisive response,” he asserted.

Gen Chaudhry’s remarks come shortly after the recent ceasefire understanding between the two nuclear-armed neighbours. He cautioned that even the notion of limited warfare could spiral into catastrophic consequences. “If India believes in the concept of limited war, it is essentially inviting mutual destruction,” he stated.

The ISPR chief underscored the nuclear risk in the region, noting that major global powers, including the United States, acknowledge the dangers of escalation. In a related development, U.S. President Donald Trump has expressed interest in mediating the Kashmir dispute, though India remains opposed to third-party involvement and has not formally agreed to talks under the ceasefire arrangement.

Reiterating Pakistan’s stance, Gen Chaudhry said the Kashmir issue must be resolved in accordance with United Nations Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people. He also described Pakistan’s strategic posture as a demonstration of strength against a larger adversary.

Meanwhile, Pakistan and India’s Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) have reportedly established a third hotline contact, agreeing to uphold the ceasefire and advance the peace process, though official confirmation is awaited.
